About us

Hello, we are Paula, Branca and Iona. The garden is our dream.

As friends, we always believed that it was possible to have a charming, cozy – and at the same time contemporary, place that served breakfast all day, where the customer could make their own choices.

But we didn’t stop there, we went further: we serve lunch, sell bread and breathtaking desserts. Everything produced here: from bread to sweets, from jams to citrus butter, from quiches to our “picadinho”, a Brazilian classic.

It all started in 2014, when we opened the first unit, in Jardim Botânico. Also in that year we won the award for Best Breakfast in Rio de Janeiro by Veja Magazine –  award that we won twice more. We have also received awards from Revista Época and the Zona Sul section of O Globo three times. In June 2018, we received the award for Best Breakfast in Brazil for the first time, by Revista Prazeres da Mesa. The most recent award arrived in August 2023:  Best Breakfast in Rio by O Globo’s Rio Show.

In August 2016 we opened our second unit, located at Instituto Moreira Salles, in Gávea, combining food, fun and art. In June 2018 we invaded the beach with our newest Garden, in Ipanema.

In 2023 the IMS closed for complete renovation works, for five years. Don’t they say that when a door closes, a window opens? With us it happened exactly like this! One garden closed and another opened: Casa Firjan invited us to take over the café in its beautiful space. Since April 2023, we have been operating two spaces: one inside the historic Palacete Lineu de Paula Machado and another outside, in the gardens.

At the Ipanema and Jardim Botânico units, we have wi-fi and plugs, so you can feel comfortable – and at Casa Firjan, there are several beach chairs for you to relax, just like in your garden. The objective is exactly this: to make you feel comfortable and have a delicious experience. That’s why we named our waiters Gardeners: they are always on the lookout to plant flavor and water with joy.
